MAIN GUIDE & COURSE CREATOR: Caleb J. Murphy
I'm a songwriter/producer with 12+ years as an active musician. I'm based in Austin, Tx.
My self-produced music has been on NBC, ABC, NPR, and in hundreds of indie film projects.
On top of starting and running Musician With A Day Job, I've written music advice content for Ari's Take, Digital Music News, Bandzoogle, and many other places.
I will be actively answering questions in the student-only Slack community.
SECONDARY GUIDE: John Behrens
John has 10+ years as a professional audio engineer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He's based in Nashville, Tn.
He's worked with 100+ artists and writers and he has produced, played on, engineered, mixed and/or mastered hundreds of records.
Before I learned how to mix music on my own, he was my go-to mixing engineer. His advice has been invaluable to me.
Only students who enroll in the Pro level get feedback from John.
Production To Promotion is a collection of the best YouTube videos on every single step of the process. I've done the digging, found the most helpful videos for beginners, and put them together in a step-by-step fashion in this course.
Everyone who signs up for either level of the course gets access to an exclusive, royalty-free sample pack that I (Caleb) made.
Pro students also get access to the student-only Slack community, two rounds of detailed song feedback from me, and one round of mixing feedback from pro audio engineer John Behrens.
You will have access to this course for as long as it is available, including any and all updates I make to the content.
Only Pro students get song feedback: two rounds of feedback from me (Caleb) and one round of mixing feedback from pro audio engineer John Behrens.
The techniques and methods in this course and the order in which you do them will work regardless of the DAW you use. Plus, there's a whole section on how to use your chosen DAW.
To produce pro-level music from home, you will need some basic equipment and software. If you don't have that, you'll need to be able to invest a couple hundred dollars in equipment and software. If you're not prepared to do that, maybe this course isn't for you right now.
